Matt Hunter

Video Producer & Owner

With a passion for videography and production from an early age, Matt Hunter got his beginnings in the professional world in 2015 as a second shooter for weddings. Capturing these special moments on film invigorated his passion for production work when he saw how much emotional power could be conveyed visually. From this point forward, Matt knew that video production was more than a hobby, and was the career he wanted to pursue.

In 2017, Matt branched out and created Topical Films in order to start telling his own stories and begin sculpting his creative vision. Inspired by the atmosphere of shooting live shows for electronic music artists in Calgary, Matt began seeking out opportunities to create long-lasting digital memories to be shared while also refining his technical skills to flourish in visually challenging environments such as live music venues. Highlights of his nightlife shoots include filming for Top 100 DJs such as W&W, Timmy Trumpet and Vicetone, as well as touring internationally with local Calgary artist Titus1.

Matt began taking on work with small businesses and found great reward in helping small business owners better reach their audiences through his high-quality and captivating videos. Matt enjoys working with small businesses and small business owners to brainstorm content strategies and create engaging videos that bridge the gap between their clients and their services. Matt is constantly looking to improve and expand his skillset with new challenges and opportunities with a keen interest in human-interest stories and the capturing of nature.

When he’s not behind the camera, Matt enjoys being out in nature in any way he can whether it’s camping, hiking or fishing. When he’s not outdoors Matt likes experimenting with trying new foods and is on an everlasting quest to find the spiciest food in Calgary.
